Coronary Heart Disease and fatal heart attack can be traced to the presence of an amino acid called homocysteine.
It is often elevated but not usually checked in routine blood draws. Ask your doctor to do this test!
Homocysteine are strongly influenced by diet and vitamins. Most people are deficient in B vitamins, specifically B6 and B12. These vitamins are essential for management of this amino acid. Folic Acid is also critical.
If you discover that your homocysteine is elevated, you should take large doses of vitamin B complex, with emphasis on Vit. B 6 and B 12, and take folic acid. Your diet should contain leafy greens and grain products which have been fortified with Folic Acid.
