Good news! The answer is NO, it does not cause prostate cancer.
What is called metabolites of testosterone cause prostate enlargement and contribute to prostate cancer. These metabolites are called estrone and dihydrotestosterone. Estrone (female) increases and testosterone decreases in men and causes feminizing characteristics and also can cause belly fat. Men who begin to appear soft, pudgy, bloated, and complain of less energy, less libido, and even exhibit penile atrophy, are responding to the influence of estrone. Dihydrotestosterone can aggravate male pattern baldness and peculiar hair patterns. It can also contribute to enlarged breast tissue and essentially collude with estrone to aggravate feminizing conditions. Men have seen examples of this circumstance in the gym and spouses may be wondering what is happening to their husbands! Age may be a factor, but I have seen this condition in younger men, also. Disease conditions like diabetes type 2, morbid obesity, and others, are in synch with this hormonal imbalance. Men should have routine hormone blood evaluations annually or if they begin to experience these features.
